Exploring Oria

Although a large number of prehistoric cave sites have been documented in the territory of Gipuzkoa, these have mainly been located in the Urola and Deba valleys. However, findings in the Oria Valley have been scarce, creating an image of ‘emptiness’. With the aim of reversing this disparity and thus being able to verify and document possible prehistoric occupations of the Oria Valley, various surveys have been planned and carried out in caves and shelters. Likewise, in order to publicise the results of these interventions, informative talks have been held as a result of the collaboration between Aranzadi and various local councils in the Oria Valley, such as Villabona-Amasa, Larraul and Itsasondo.
